Why can high glossiness be achieved so easily?
Because of the inorganic, round shaped and very small fillers (0.2μm) which are dispersed in the paste evenly
Why can its glossiness be so long-lasting?
Even if some fillers were dropped off due to the abrasion of the surface, the unevenness of the surface will be extremely limited because of the same reason as per A1
Is there any recommended polishing tool?
Ease of polish is one of the features of Estelite Asteria so that most of tools available for sale can be used for polishing. We checked the tools of the following brands and we found them proper: PoGo (Dentsply/Caulk), Sof-Lex (3M), Identoflex HiLuster Dia Polishers (Kerr), or D-Finetm Hybrid Diamond (Cosmedent, Inc.)
Can I use Estelite Asteria for both posterior and anterior restorations?
Yes. Estelite Asteria shows a superior esthetics for anterior restorations as well as adequate properties for posterior restorations, in terms of fracture toughness, flexural strength, shrinkage and wear properties
What is fracture toughness?
It is the ability of the material having a small crack, to resist to the fractures. Generally, the fracture toughness of human enamel is 0.7 ~ 1.3 MPam1/2, the one of human dentin is 2.7 ~ 3.1 MPam1/2. The fracture toughness of Estelite Asteria is 1.79 MPam1/2
Why can Estelite Asteria blend with the natural teeth so well?
Because the marginal lines become vague thanks to its high diffusion and transmission of the light and thanks to its glossiness which is so close to the natural teeth
What is the clinical advantage of a low shrinkage?
Lower shrinkage contributes to reduce the risk of gaps and chippings between composite and teeth
In the case that an incremental filling is needed, how deep should be each single layer?
Do not exceed the depth indicated in IFU. (e.g. 2.0 mm in case of A3B shade irradiated by LED for 10 sec. This depth is a clinical figure, which is 1/2 of curing depth in vitro, calculated in accordance with ISO 4049: 2000.)
Is there any recommended light units?
You can use any conventional light units having a wavelength range of 400 to 500nm (peak: 470nm), which is the absorption spectrum of camphorquinone contained in Estelite Asteria as photoinitiator
